Malta Comic Con 2014

Comic book lovers rejoice! The annual gathering of fans, actors and designers will take place in the last weekend of November, at St. James Cavalier in Valletta. The sixth edition of The Comic Con Malta is staged once again by WickedComics. The voluntary organization has a reputation to defend following the success of last year’s meeting.

The fans will be on their toes to meet with the creators of their favorite comic strips and characters. The organizers have already announced the presence of notorious artists from Malta and abroad, such as Gabriel Hardman (illustrator for the Secret Avengers), Corinna Bechko (Star Wars); Chris Thompson (The Orbiting Pod) and many more.

Everyone looks forward to the interactive workshops or the chance to grab an autograph from a famous artist. A session of Q&A’s will provide the fans with the opportunity to solve some of their dilemmas regarding comic book stories or ongoing feuds between diehard fans. The main subjects of discussion revolve around the upcoming movies Batman vs. Superman, and the long awaited Deadpool, both of them only coming to the big screen in 2016

One of the most anticipated events is the Comic Con Cosplay Competition, where fans are invited to dress in their favorite character’s costume and parade the show in order to win the grand prize which has not yet been revealed by the organizers. In spite of that, most of them just take pride in showing off their imitation work, which took months in advance to prepare.

If you are not that much into comic strips, you can take a seat in the built-in cinema and enjoy one of the action movies that will be on display. Should you feel the need to prove your gaming talents, you will be given the chance in the open-play competition that will take place inside the St. James Cavalier Centre.

Small sections of the meeting will be dedicated to fans who wish to exchange collectibles and memorabilia. This colorful event managed to get a lot of attention during last year’s convention.

The access fees for this spectacular event have been tailored to suit all fans: 10 euro for a one-day entry and only 15 euro for a two-day pass, not to mention that all the children under the age of 11 get to enter for free.

Whether you consider yourself a comic strip enthusiast, or an occasional fan of this art, you should not miss this show. Malta is one of the few European countries to host such an event that has its roots in the United States. The fact that such a small nation can organize such an exciting event of international proportions is well worth of a small visit in the last weekend of autumn.

While planning your trip, take into consideration that you will be spending most of your time at the convention. Therefore, a comfortable, inexpensive accommodation, such as a hostel, would be a great addition to your itinerary.

For more details on the convention, please contact the organizers at info@maltacomic-con.com.
